The six-week course is available for anyone, from true beginners to more advanced potters. Class offerings are for adults, 18 and up. Each six-week session includes:
Detailed instruction and demos during your class time
"Open Studio" practice hours (Tuesday and Saturday 12-4, Thursday 4-9)
Up to 25 pounds of clay, use of studio glazes, and free firings for pieces made in class
Tools are not included but a basic kit can be purchased for $10 at your first class
Pricing is $235 for wheel throwing and $245 for hand building.
LEVEL ONE: INTRO TO WHEEL
In "Intro to Wheel" you will be guided weekly through the process of creating pottery from start to finish. Beginners, this class is for you! If you have taken a class before but are struggling with centering, pulling walls, or throwing a cylinder, this class is a great refresher to sharpen those skills.
LEVEL TWO: INTERMEDIATE WHEEL
In "Intermediate Wheel" you will take the basic knowledge you have learned in previous throwing courses and expand your skillset. We generally recommend that you take two "Intro to Wheel" courses before moving up to this level. This class is for potters who can already create basic forms on the wheel but would like to learn new forms and surface decoration techniques. You will also practice centering and throwing slightly larger amounts of clay (3-4 lbs).
INTRO TO HAND BUILDING
In "Intro to Hand Building" you will learn about the possibilities of clay outside of the wheel! Using techniques such as coil building, slab rolling, pinching, pulling and more, you will learn how to create forms and expand your knowledge of clay. The possibilities are endless!
